Happy Howlidays Everyone!
I hope that everyone had a safe and happy Thanksgiving. May you have a safe and happy holiday as well. I hope that as you shop for your loved ones this season that you remember the spirit of the season. Maybe if each one of us is kind to someone else as we shop, that spirit will catch on and we will have more joyful news than has come from the shopping front thus far this season.
As we begin December, with all of its madness, there are a few people we need thank and some events to remind you of.
Santa Paws was a fantastic success. If you haven't picked up your pictures yet, they are still available at Bigwag Dog Bakery. Pets Rock took pictures of 65 dogs and their families over 2 days, a task not for the faint of heart. The event raised $320 for the Humane Society, which is more than double of last year?s event! Many thanks to Chad and Jackie Collie of Pets Rock who spent two days snapping pictures, squeaking dog toys, lifting dogs into Santa's lap and crawling around on the ground to adjust backgrounds, all so each picture was perfect. Thanks to our Santas who were so patient as dog sat all over them. Also many thanks to all the volunteers from the Humane Society and Dog Park that made the event run smoothly.
Don't forget about Angel Trees and Angel Wreaths this season. We've already received a bunch of fantastic donations, but the animals at the Humane Society are always in need. If you find it in your heart to donate this season, look for trees and wreaths at local pet friendly locations, including Bigwag. Help the Humane Society out this holiday season by taking a tag and then returning the item to Bigwag Dog Bakery, The Humane Society for Animals or Rose Antique Mall and Flea Market.

Bigwag Dog Bakery November Newsletter
Hello Fellow Dog Lovers!
It seems impossible that it is already time for November's newsletter and that the holiday season is already upon us. There are a few upcoming events that we'd like to let you know about as you begin the bustle of your holiday.
This Saturday, November 8th, Northwest Arkansas Animal Rescue is hosting their first annual Texas Hold 'Em Poker Tournament. The tickets are $50, available at Bigwag Dog Bakery or online at http://www.bigwag.com. All the proceeds benefit Northwest Arkansas Animal Rescue, which does invaluable work with strays in our area and whose ultimate goal is a mobile spay/neuter clinic! And if helping out animals isn't enough to motivate you, they have several fantastic prizes. Every one at the final table will be awarded a prize, with the grand prize being a 50" Flat Screen HDTV! The event is at the Rogers/Bentonville Elks Lodge. Registration begins at 1pm with welcome and rules beginning at 2pm and play starting at 2:15pm.
Santa Paws Returns! If poker playing just isn't your style, next weekend, November 15th and 16th you can help the Humane Society while getting your dogs' picture taken with Santa Paws. Pets Rock Photography will once again be taking pictures, and they are generously donating all sitting fees to the Humane Society for Animals. Sitting fees are $5 per dog. Pictures will be taken at Bigwag Dog Bakery. Sitting times are available from 1pm-6pm on both Saturday, November 15th and Sunday, November 16th. Please call 631-2924 to schedule your sitting time. The first 25 registrants receive a goodie bag!

Bigwag Dog Bakery October Newsletter
Hello Friends!
In the past few weeks we've had a bevy of great pet events, but we're not done yet! While we were sad to have Responsible Dog Ownership Day canceled by the weather from Hurricane Ike, we were glad to participate in many other events. Thanks to everyone who got their dogs washed at Paws-N-Spas or stopped by Pet-Palooza in Gulley Park. And a big congratulations to the Bentonville Bark Park on their groundbreaking, we can't wait for the events that will be there when it's complete!
With the beautiful weather we've been having lately, this weekend should be a fantastic opportunity to take your dog out, and there are plenty of events to participate in!
This Saturday, October 4th, The Bella Vista Animal Shelter will host their annual Wiener Dog Races at Glasgow Road Softball Field in Bella Vista. It promises to be a fantastic event, with over 80 wiener dogs ready to compete for the prize in a series of races. Plus they're going to have a Wienie Parade complete with a king and queen of the Wienies! (Not to mention that the event is sponsored by Oscar Mayer - could that be any more perfect?)
This Saturday evening, Murphy Dog Park is hosting a Canine Movie Night. There will be a photo montage of past pet events from Pets Rock, so come out to see if your dog is included! Afterward, they'll be showing a movie complete with popcorn. You supply your seat and your drink. There's no price for admission, but they do ask for a donation to the Dog Park.
And Sunday the Dog Scouts are hosting a Dog-tober Festival in Bella Vista, complete with a Dog Walk (with hidden coins), a costume contest and games!
Don't forget, Citiscapes magazine is currently taking votes for their "Best of NWA" readers poll. We need our fans to vote for Bigwag Dog Bakery as the "Best Kept Secret" on NWA. If you haven't voted yet, head over to http://www.bestofnwar.com/ and cast your ballots (for us :) If we win, we'll be giving away free commemorative "Best Kept Secret 2008" treats to everyone who voted!

Citiscapes magazine is currently taking votes for their "Best of NWA" readers poll. We need our fans to vote for Bigwag Dog Bakery as the "Best Kept Secret" on NWA. If you haven't voted yet, head over to http://www.bestofnwar.com and cast your ballots (for us :) If we win, we'll be giving away free commemorative "Best Kept Secret 2008" treats to everyone who voted for us!

Bigwag Dog Bakery August Newsletter
Hello Friends!
August seemed to slip by, and we almost forgot the August newsletter! With the break in pet events, we've been enjoying the quiet, but the fall season is ramping up upon us. RDOD, Strutt for a Mutt, Paws-n-Spas, Pet-Palooza, and the Cave Springs Pooch Parade are all gaining ground on us. The Weiner Dog Races, Canine Movie Night, Barktober Fest, Pugfest, and the Basset Waddle aren't far behind, with the NWAAR Hold'em Tournament and Santa Paws bring up the rear in November. Before you know it, it will be turkey time! My how the time flies! If the spring pet events were any indication of what this fall will be like, we all should be in for an exciting ride, as more information and events become available! We'll have fliers for most of these events at the bakery.
Northwest Arkansas Animal Rescue will be holding their first ever Texas Hold'em Tournament on Saturday November 8th. For news and updates, visit http://nwa-animalrescue.blogspot.com/ Tickets are available online at http://www.bigwag.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3&products_id=184 and will be available soon at our store for $45 until Halloween, and then they will be $50. Play will be limited to the first 100 ticket holders, and will be competing for some major prizes to be announced soon!

BigWag June Newsletter
Hello Friends!
First, I would like to congratulate Erin Jacobs - She knew three reasons dogs might dig were: For comfort on hot days, lay in the cool dirt; pursuing an odor of buried food; boredom. She was the first respondent in our trivia contest last month and won 25% off a custom portrait from Cho Blu Studios in Rogers. Thanks to everyone who played!
All of the dog walks were fantastic this year! We had a blast seeing everyone at the Dogwood Walk in Fayetteville, the Bark Park Walk in Bentonville and the Woofy Walk in Springdale. For those that didn't attend, we have photos and video on our blog at

This Sunday New Hope Animal Hospital is hosting their annual Open House. And don't miss the first ever Paws-n-Spas Dog Wash at Dog Days Doggie Daycare in Bentonville next Saturday, June 7th. BigWag May Newsletter
Hello Friends!
First, I would like to congratulate Bonnie Plack - She knew the correct answer was 848 Dogs in 8 hours. She was the first respondent in our trivia contest last month and won a $40 gift certificate to Bow Wow Pet Styling in Rogers. Thanks to everyone who played!
Springfest was wonderful this year. For those that didn't attend, they actually setup an area just for dogs called "Doggie Alley" down by the Japanese Bistro. There was a dog parade that ended in Doggie Alley, and prizes were given away for the most unique dog, the dog with the most Springfest Spirit, and the Biggest Wag (of course!). All in all it was a great event to bring your dog to. They even setup a dogsitting area so you could drop your dog off and go have something to eat. We have photos and a video on our blog at http://bigwag.blogspot.com/2008/04/bigwag-at-springfest.html
We're gearing up for two big events this Saturday - The DogWood Walk at Gulley Park in Fayetteville and the Bark Park Walk at the future site of the Bentonville Dog Park. Both promise to be great. John Pelfry, the Razorbacks basketball coach, will be the grand marshall at the DogWood walk this year. At the Bentonville Bark Park Walk they are going to have Starbucks, along with tons of food, drinks, and giveaways. You also don't want to miss out on the Woofy Walk that is being organized by Girl Scout Troop 192. It will be at J.B. Hunt Park in Springdale on the following Saturday, May 10th!

Episode IV - A New Hope
Hey everyone! This is the very first post of our newsletter at it's new home! I hope you like it! We are attempting to change things up a bit, because readers were having problems with our newsletters ending up in spam folders. Imagine that! Anywho, this should correct the email address not appearing where it's supposed to, and our ever useless spam pit sales@bigwag.com will eventually be phased out in favor of our new newsletter email address.
Please leave feedback! I am planning on putting up the archive posts from previous newsletters so that all of that info and trivia is available for posterity's sake!

BigWag Februrary Newsletter
Hello Friends!
First, I would like to congratulate Deborah Grodecka from Every Dog Can - She knew the correct answer was "Fear of Cats". Being the first respondent in our trivia contest last month and won her a $20 BigWag gift certificate. I would also like to thank everyone that sent in a response - we didn't have a single incorrect answer. I knew our readers were sharp!
February is National Pet Dental Health month. Dr Vava Hooper from Rose Animal Clinic has written a very nice article on Pet Dental Health just for us: http://bigwag.blogspot.com/2008/02/februrary-is-national-pet-dental-health.html on how to take care of your dog's teeth.
The Murphy Dog Park crew is currently planning a "Bunny Hop" for our Easter party at the dog park on March 15th. Stay tuned for more details to come! If you have a pet business that would like to participate, email marypohl@cox.net.
I would like to thank Chaddie and Denise from Dog Party USA for extending an invitation to the BigWag Krew for the Marti Gras parade February 2nd. That was a real blast, and everyone should try to attend next year. I didn't know Dickson Street could be so much fun while the sun was still up. Our store mascot made his debut as "Captain Mardi Gras" with Dog Party's float.
PET TRIVIA - Which song has an ultra sonic whistle recorded just for the musicians dog?
This week, the first person to email the correct response to sales@bigwag.com will receive:
$20 Gift Certificate from Granite City at the Pinnacle Hills Promenade
